Chinese takeaway slammed by hygiene inspectors as it’s given zero rating

A Chinese takeaway has come under fire by hygiene inspectors who gave the venue a zero rating.

According to the Food Standards Agency urgent improvement is necessary at China House on Alverton Drive, Darlington. Inspectors gave the restaurant the lowest hygiene rating possible.

They said hygiene food handling, cleanliness and management of food safety were all inadequate. The inspection found ‘major improvement necessary.’

The food hygiene inspection took place on April 28. These are the areas inspectors looked at:

  • Hygienic handling of food including preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage
  • Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building (including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control) to enable good food hygiene
  • System or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.

Teesside Live contacted China House for comment but did not receive a response. The full hygiene report is not yet available.
