Chronicle faces from 2004 – recognise anybody in our 20 photographs?

We’ve dug out 20 photographs from the ChronicleLive archive of local people who participated in our daily ‘vox pop’ section back in 2004

We return with another selection of Chronicle ‘vox pop’ pictures from years gone by.

Maybe you’ll recognise somebody in one of our 20 photographs. This batch comes from 2004. Over recent months for a bit of fun, we’ve raided the archive and published photos taken in various years during the first decade of the 2000s. Some people have been in touch to say they’ve spotted family members, old friends, or former work colleagues.

The ‘vox pop’ was a section we ran every day in the paper. We would ask members of the public their opinion on a certain news story or issue of the day. A photographer and reporter would venture out on to the streets of Tyneside and gather the views of a collection of random individuals.

This set of pictures takes us back 18 years to 2004. As ever, we hope the intervening years have been good to everyone photographed.

Back then, they were voicing their opinions on a range of subjects, including how to get over the ‘winter blues’, Newcastle United’s exploits in the UEFA Cup, shoe styles, and the growth in the number of fast food outlets in Newcastle city centre.
