Houston Restaurant Weeks 2022: Everything to Know

The most anticipated Houston dining event of the year is back, and we can barely contain our excitement.

Houston Restaurant Weeks will be held this year from Aug. 1 through Labor Day (Sept. 5). In case you’re not good at counting, that’s 36 blissful days of delicious meals and super deals to raise money for the Houston Food Bank! Founded in 2003 by local media personality and philanthropist Cleverley Stone, who passed away in 2020 following a battle with cancer, HRW has to date raised more than $17.6 million to fight hunger in Houston, providing more than 52.8 million meals for those who are food insecure.

So how does it work? Participating restaurants (there are more than 200 this year) will make donations on their HRW sales, all fixed at set prices. A $55 dinner will come with a $6 donation, a $39 dinner comes with a $4 donation, and a $25 brunch or $25 lunch will come with a $2 donation. All together, that equals out to between six and 18 meals generated for the Houston Food Bank per sale.

The Cleverley Stone Foundation, which produces HRW every year, predicts that this year’s event will have a positive impact on Houston’s restaurant community, which continues to struggle from the effects of the pandemic.

“The past couple of years have been extremely difficult for the restaurant industry, impacted by the pandemic, supply chain, labor issues, and the rising cost of food and packaging,” Katie Stone, president of the Cleverley Stone Foundation and daughter of its founder, said in a statement.

“Surely the most difficult time for restaurants, employees and the Houston Food Bank. We are hopeful that demand for dining and a return to normalcy will have Houstonians dining out and doing good this summer. The event’s economic impact on the area is seen not only in an uptick on spending on food, but also in industries and suppliers of restaurants from food, spirits and wine distributors to valet companies, linen services, third-party delivery services and other manufacturers that supply goods.

“The positive effect of HRW is far and wide.”

Restaurants participating in the fundraiser again this year include (take a deep breath) favorites such as the Annie Café & Bar, B&B Butchers, B.B. Lemon, BB’s Tex Orleans, Bistro Menil, Brennan’s of Houston, Brasserie 19, Brasserie Du Parc, the Capital Grille, Coppa Osteria, El Meson, Heralds, Hearsay, Le Colonial, Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille, Maison Pucha Bistro, Ouisie’s Table, ROMA, Rainbow Lodge, Trattoria Sofia, Traveler’s Table, Tony’s, Vic & Anthony’s, and many more.

There are also several restaurants participating in the fundraiser for the first time, including Acme Oyster House, Daily Gather, Chivos, Eloise Nichols, Giorgio’s, Gratify Neighborhood Bistro, Indianola, III by Wolfgang Puck, MAD Houston, Rosalie, Roka Akor, ToroToro and more.

A partial list of the 2022 menus are now live, and diners can visit HRW’s website to view them as well as start making reservations. Additional restaurants will be added to the list through the Aug. 1 launch date.
